El Patro asked me to list ten of life’s pleasures but keep it simple. Dude, nothing is EVER simple with me.

1 – The end of a work day.

2 – That extra hour we get when we wind our clocks back.

3 – Swerving around the slow ass that’s been hogging the passing lane for five miles.

4 – A cold can of Coke (you KNEW that was coming).

5 – The end of a kickboxing class.

6 – My birthday.

7 – A small vanilla latte in the morning.

8 – Not paying for dinner (thanks Eric).

9 – Christmas Eve.

10 – Sleep, sleep and more sleep.

And I’ve got the leftovers to prove it. Just look at this list:

Friday’s lunch:
a plate of chicken wings, a plate of seafood salad and a handful of rolls

Monday’s bbq:
two containers of greens, another plate of fried chicken, a plate of deviled eggs and rolls topped off with several slices of my mom’s chocolate cake

So I’ve got one question for you guys — who the hell is supposed to EAT all of this??

It can’t be me or the unnamed amount of money that I’m spending on kickboxing every month will TOTALLY go to waste. And it can’t be Eric since he won’t be done frollicking in Aruba until Wednesday night.

I guess I’ll have to figure something out ASAP or else the food will grow legs and walk out of here by itself.

So uh…how was YOUR holiday?

Oh and unrelated: I’ve been AWOL from blogs the entire holiday weekend but I’ll be back on my usual reading rounds this evening, I promise.

Which means I get to post an utter and complete fluff piece today. And guess what, peeps? It’s not TV-related!

Try not to get too happy about that, ACG.

And since there’s just 8 hours between you and your weekend, I’m sure that every tool, dick and clown within a 3-mile radius is doing their best to piss you off before day’s end. If only you could get your hands on the buttons below…

Between Danielle taking home the title on ANTM and Taylor being named the next Idol, I have to say this season hasn’t let me down as much as I feared it would.

Dude, I’m BEYOND elated that Katharine didn’t win. Sure she has a great singing voice but watching one of her performances was like staring at wet cardboard. Girlfriend’s got about as much soul as a graham cracker.

And for those brave enough to view the entire, 2-hour finale (I TiVo’d) it was probably one of the most humorous that Idol has ever produced. I actually found myself laughing hysterically at a couple of points. Wait, who’s saying my sense of humor is shot…??

All in all, it was an enjoyable night that wrapped up an enjoyable TV-watching season. Which means I won’t be BORING you guys with anymore television posts…for the next three months, anyway.

But despite the rather rapid face-kicking Jack got at the end, I really enjoyed the 24 season finale. That’s because the 24 writers are much like their beloved lead character — they show up, they do the damn thing and then they get the hell out.

Wish I could say the same for certain OTHER finales.

I’m sure you guys are bursting at the seams with your own opinions so tell me, what did you think??
